The solar industry has yet to have an "Intel Inside" marketing moment, but it's not for lack of trying--at least in some quarters. Remember those kinda-cool Sharp TV and newspaper ads that started running last fall? One of the latest efforts in increasing public awareness--and hopefully system sales--comes from SunPower, and its "Seize Today" campaign launched in early June.
The monocrystalline-silicon mavens have booted up a slick consumer-oriented micro-site called, you guessed it, www.seizetoday.com, which has some nifty tools, including an installation cost estimator replete with a Google maps hookup and a link to an iPod/iPhone system power monitoring system app.
Radio and digital sites as well as outdoor, transit, and airport physical signage comprise the targeted media for the carpe diem-esque outreach adverts. While waiting on my flight and strolling the San Jose International Airport earlier today, I came across two examples of the U.S. solar company's PVangelism on the terminal walls (seen below).
btw, those are not "real" modules inside, just a graphic-design feature on the kiosk screens.
