BTU International is a market-leading, global supplier of advanced thermal processing equipment to the alternative energy and electronics manufacturing markets. BTU equipment is used in solar cell, nuclear fuel and fuel cell manufacturing as well as in the production of printed circuit board assemblies and semiconductor packaging. BTU has operations in North America, MA, U.S. and Shanghai, China with direct sales and service in the USA, Asia and Europe.
BTU International has posted 3Q08 sales of $20.6 million, up 25 percent compared to $16.5 million for the same quarter a year ago and up compared to $20.4 million in the preceding quarter. With the downturn in the semiconductor industry, BTU is anticipating a slowdown in sales through the first half of 2009. However, the company expects equipment sales to the photovoltaics industry to grow and become a significant percentage of its sales mix in the future.
Thermal processing equipment supplier BTU International has announced the receipt of an order exceeding two million dollars for several of BTU’s in-line thermal processing systems. The order is from a major thin-film solar customer for use in the high-volume production of thin-film solar panels.
BTU International, a maker of thermal processing equipment, has set up a dedicated business unit dubbed the ‘Alternative Energy Group’ to handle business expansion within the photovoltaic industry. As part of the move, the company is to establish two international research and process application laboratories—one in Billerica, Massachusetts and one in Shanghai, China.
