Silicon Valley Solar sets-up 2MW CPV pilot line

12 August 2008 | By Mark Osborne | News > Fab and Facilities

Silicon Valley Solar (SV Solar) has established a 2MW pilot production line in Sunnyvale, California to manufacture its ‘Sol-X’ concentrating PV modules. Pilot scale manufacturing equipment has now been deployed at its 15,000 square foot mixed-use facility, the company said.

“The new facility and pilot line gives the company the infrastructure to move our technology from the prototype stage to a market-ready product. This puts the company on track to bring volume manufacturing capability online in 2009,” added Steven D. White, SV Solar’s President and CEO.

SV solar claims that its modules eliminate over 50% of the silicon solar cell material compared to conventional systems.
