DuPont to establish new R&D and production facilities for c-Si & thin film materials

DuPont is to build a new R&D facility in Hong Kong as well as a production facility in Shenzhen, China for current and future materials used for traditional crystalline silicon (c-Si) cell and module markets. The company will also expand into serving the fast-growing amorphous silicon (a-Si) thin-film market.

A new joint venture crystalline solar cell manufacturer has been created with the announcement that Munich, Germany, based PV systems manufacturer, Centrosolar Group AG and Munich headquartered, Qimonda AG plan to build and operate a 100MWp facility at Qimonda’s Vila do Conde, Portugal, semiconductor packaging plant. Qimonda is a major semiconductor memory manufacturer.

Tool Order: Solsonica selects gas abatement technology from Edwards

Photovoltaic cell and module manufacturer Solsonica, based in Rieti, Italy has selected gas abatement technology from Edwards that will be used for abatement during silicon nitride (SiN) deposition in its polysilicon solar cell manufacturing operations. Solsonica has purchased two
‘ATLAS’ thermal conditioning systems (TCS) for its requirements.

XsunX has decided on a location for its new thin-film solar module manufacturing facility. The company is to sublet the facilities of a 90,000 square-foot building in Wood Village east of Portland, Oregon, which was previously used by another technology manufacturer.

Perfectenergy plans 45MW solar capacity in 2H08FY and 200MW ramp in 2009

Perfectenergy International has said that its successful move into a new 67,000 square foot plant in Shanghai, China during 2007 will allow the photovoltaic manufacturer to reach a capacity of 45MW in the second half of its 2008 fiscal year.
Signet Solar locates 300MW thin film PV plant in Chennai, India

Signet Solar has committed to building its second large substrate thin film photovoltaic plant in the Sriperembudur Special Economic Zone near Chennai, India. Construction is expected to start later in 2008 on a 300MW facility at an initial estimated cost of $500 million.
