SunEdison has named its new Director of Canadian Operations as Jason Gray. The role will entail continuing the work Gray has been implementing in Canada on the First Light Solar Park project, a 9MW facility scheduled for activation sometime this year.
Gray joined SunEdison back in 2008 where he began as a Project Developer managing the company's solar activities in the region of Canada. He will now move to direct others towards the same goal in Ontario, which has recently updated its renewable energy policy.
In the years before SunEdison, Gray worked at accounting, consulting and corporate finance firm, MNP where he concentrated on client engagements focused on energy and supply-chain management. Gray has also spoken about and published articles on U.S. and Canadian energy sector regulations.
"Ontario is a growing market for solar, given the Ontario Power Authority's commitment to renewable energy and strong Feed-in Tariff program for ground mount and rooftop solar," said Brian Jacolick, General Manager, North America, for SunEdison. "Jason understands the financial, regulatory and environmental concerns that are part of successful solar projects. His background in traditional and renewable energy markets and his experience on the ground for SunEdison in Canada make him an excellent fit for his new position. We look forward to developing more strong Canadian partnerships under his leadership."
Gray holds a BA and an MBA from the University of Calgary.
