As
General Manager of Strategic Operations for Applied Materials, Dr.
Randhir Thakur will initially focus his efforts on the company’s SunFab
Thin Film Line for PV module production. Dr. Thakur rejoins Applied
Materials after a role as Vice President of technology and fab
operations at SanDisk, prior to which he spent five years with Applied
Materials in executive roles.
Thakur will join Mark Pinto in jointly leading the SunFab Operations team in applying Applied Materials’s roadmap and striving to lower cost-per-watt. Dr. Thakur has a B.S. in electronics and telecommunications engineering from the Regional Engineering College, Kurukshetra, India; an M.S. in electrical engineering from the University of Saskatchewan, Canada; and a Ph.D. in the same discipline from the University of Oklahoma.
