Oerlikon Solar’s sales efforts are to be led by Chris
Smith, formerly of Applied Materials, who has been named as head of
Sales and Customer Support for the thin-film solar equipment
manufacturer. Smith brings 20 years of management and sales experience
to the role, 12 of which were spent with Applied Materials.
Smith spent 2001 to 2006 working in vice presidential
roles with Applied’s customer accounts, including those of Intel and
Micron. Other roles were as General Manager of the Chemical Mechanical
Polishing Product Business and Managing Director of the Global Business
Development for the Dielectric and Physical Vapor Deposition groups.
