Media and The Prometheus Institute believe that Concentrating Solar
Thermal (CST) and Concentrating Photovoltaic (CPV) could become a $200
billion market through 2020. In the last six months plans have been
announced for Concentrating Solar Power (CSP) worth in excess of $30
billion, according to the market research partners.
"CSP has quickly become one of the most heated market segments in all of renewable energy, but it’s important to step back and understand how it will grow along with the evolution of PV," said Travis Bradford, Executive Director of the Prometheus Institute.
The market research partners said that their study projects that even with strong demand, especially in utility scale installations, CST and CPV combined will still only make up less than 10 percent of the 288GW installed by 2020.
