As costs continue to skyrocket, one senior housing complex is tackling
energy issues with innovative “going green” concepts. Installation of a
solar roof system on Kent Avenue Apartments here is complete and was
unveiled Thursday, bringing more energy-efficient, affordable housing
to those on a fixed income. The solar roof system consists of 462 solar
panels that will in its lifetime produce 2,764,375 kilowatts, which is
equal to 1,450 tons of avoided CO2 emissions, 19,725 trees planted, or
2,193,950 miles not driven in a car, according to Goff Sun Power, the
company that built the system.
