SEMI and Intersolar join forces on PV equipment and materials management for 2009 event

13 June 2008 | Market Watch: News
SEMI logoSEMI, the global industry association for equipment, materials and services companies in the semiconductor and photovoltaics industries, has announced that it is to collaborate with Intersolar at next year’s exhibition. The partnership will see SEMI manage all aspects of the PV manufacturing equipment and materials segment of the global solar energy exhibition, which, like Intersolar 2008, will take place next year in the New Messe Munich, Germany. The date for Intersolar 2009 is May 27th to 29th, 2009.

SEMI will work with Intersolar organisers Solar Promotion GmbH and Freiburg Wirtschaft Touristik and Messe GmbH & Co. KG to run this segment in a designated area of the Messe, organising technology and manufacturing conferences and any other events related to this part of the exhibition. By housing all of the materials and equipment-related companies in one area, SEMI hopes to enable an efficient networking environment and market impact.

“Solar technologies are not only becoming a pervasive part of the new energy framework, but are of crucial importance to the sustainability of our environment and the global economy,” said Heinz Kundert, President of SEMI Europe. “SEMI members are at the forefront of new developments to increase the efficiency and lower the cost of these technologies, and the association has active PV initiatives in place across every major manufacturing region in the world to effectively support member needs and ensure ongoing industrial and technological advancements.”

In a further collaborative move, Intersolar and SEMI will bring Intersolar North America to the US via an agreement with SEMICON West 2008 in July.
