Q-Cells has confirmed that it has extended the solar grade silicon supply deal with Bécancour Silicon Inc. (BSI), a wholly owned subsidiary of Timminco, which was originally signed in March, 2008. The extension means that Q-Cells will receive 6,000 metric tons of silicon per year between 2010 and 2013. The original deal was for 410 metric tons in 2008 and 3,000 metric tons in 2009 at fixed prices.
Pricing for deliveries in the year 2010 have been fixed, and for the years 2011 to 2013 will be based upon market conditions, within a fixed floor-to-ceiling price range, Q-Cells said.
