Trina Solar places supply order with GT Solar

Trina SolarPending approval from both company Boards, Trina Solar and GT Solar have signed a supply agreement for the latter to supply primary converter and reactor systems to the value of approximately $49 million, payable over a period of 12 to 18 months.

Air Liquide expects threefold increase in silane production by 2010

Air LiquideWith silane (monosilane, SiH4) demand growing by more than 25 percent per annum due to its ubiquitous use across electronics and photovoltaic industries, Air Liquide is to further expand production from 500 tons per year to 2,000 tons per year via a new production plant being built and expected to be operational in 2010. Praxair awarded on-site gases contract for new Italy-based solar grade polysilicon plant

SilfabSilfab SpA, a start-up solar grade polysilicon producer, currently planning its first plant in Borgofranco d’Ivrea, Italy has awarded the bulk gas supply and services contract for the plant to Rivoira SpA, the Italian subsidiary of Praxair.

Canadian Solar garners four new wafer supply contracts

Canadian SolarCanadian Solar (CSI) has signed solar wafer supply contracts with four suppliers, including Jiangsu Shunda, giving CSI 12MW of wafers before the summer of 2008. Shunda is expected to supply approximately 4MW of that total amount. Read more >>

Thin film and organic PV materials worth $3.8 billion by 2015, says NanoMarkets

OrganicRapid expansion in the use of thin film and organic materials used in photovoltaics is expected to lead to a value of $3.8 billion for the market by 2015, according to a new study by NanoMarkets, an industry analyst firm. By 2015, amorphous silicon PV will use more than $900 million in silane gas and other silicon-based materials. Read more >>

Yingli Green Energy garners new polysilicon supply from DC Chemical

PolysiliconYingli Green Energy has signed two polysilicon supply agreements with DC Chemical of Korea for the supply of polysilicon under two separate contracts. LDK Solar to supply 450MW of multicrystalline wafers to Hyundai Heavy Industries

China Sunergy increase high-efficiency selective emitter cell supply

China SunergyChina Sunergy is increasing the supply of its high-efficiency selective emitter (SE) cell under a previous solar wafer supply deal with aleo solar AG. The total shipment volume under the new Agreement will remain at 30MW for 2008 but will now comprise of 7MW supplied in the form of SE cells.
