6N Silicon has started production at its solar grade polysilicon plant in Vaughan, Ontario, Canada. Development and refinement of the 6N process has been conducted through the company's three-year EOS Project, supported by the Government of Canada's Sustainable Development Technology Canada (SDTC) and Ontario's Innovation Development Fund (IDF). The company is using pre-existing light-industrial facilities that have a compact footprint and low input energy requirements, according to the company.
Initial scale is 2,000MT per annum, which has been funded by a $20 million Series B funding round. The project was completed on time and inline with customer scheduled deliveries the company said.
