Italy-based solar energy firm 9REN Group has recently connected three new PV projects in Italy, helping the company to surpass its 100MW milestone. 9REN now has 105MW of directly owned PV plants, of which 89MW are in Italy and 16MW in Spain.

The three new PV installations have all been built on leased roofs and benefit from Italy’s fourth Conto Energia.

The first of the three plants to be connected was in Serramonda in the province of Catanzaro, and is expected to generate 914,000kWh a year. The plant utilizes 2,900 Hanwha SolarOne 240 watt modules with polycrystalline silicon technology and Power One string inverters.

The second plant was connected in Modugno 2, in the province of Bari. It has a capacity of 338 kW and an expected annual output of 412,000 kWh. 9REN installed 1,400 Hanwha SolarOne 240 watt modules with polycrystalline silicon technology and Power One string inverters. In addition to the solar installation, 9REN also managed the restoration of the leased roof and safe disposal of asbestos.

The third installation, known as Prunizzedda, was built on an industrial roof in the province of Sassari in Sardinia. It has a capacity of 334 kW and an expected annual production of 444,000 kWh. This project also utilizes the same modules and inverters as the other two projects. REN9 installed 1,390 modules and Power One string inverters.

All three plants have been connected to the medium-voltage grid. These latest installations mean that 9REN now has 11 roof-mounted PV plants in operation which have a combined capacity of 7.6MW.

Stefano Granella, CEO of 9REN Group, stated, “The successful connection of these three plants by 9REN Group is a further step in our development strategy and a clear demonstration of our position both as an investor in the photovoltaic sector and as a contractor installing renewable energy plants for third parties.”

To date, 9REN has built a total of 200 MW of PV plants, more than half are directly owned while the remaining projects have been installed for third parties. The company also carries out operation and maintenance services on 570 PV plants, which have a total PV capacity of 157 MW.
