Atlas introduces XR360 for PV testing

29 September 2009 | By Emma Hughes | News > PV Modules

Atlas Material Testing is introducing the latest technology for accelerated exposure testing of complete PV modules. The XR360 integrates the recent developments in environmental chamber and xenon solar simulation technoloy.

The XR360 technology is successor to the XR260, which has been used for PV testing by independent bodies such as the National Renewable Energy Laboratory (NREL).

PV testing is usually performed according to ISO, ASTM, and other industry consensus standard test methods. Similarly to material coupons and smaller components, full PV modules should be tested under complete and appropriate conditions to reproduce the synergistic effects of the factors of weathering in end-use conditions.

The XR360 represents the largest production offering in this category, capable of testing modules up to 1.9m x 1.4m, a capacity that covers more than 90% of the current production modules.
