BASF, centrotherm team up

03 March 2009 | By Jon Haines | News > Materials

BASFBASF SE and fellow Germany company centrotherm photovoltaics AG, a leading service-providers for solar cell and solar silicon manufacturing, along with its subsidiary GP Solar GmbH have announced a joint agreement for chemicals required in the manufacturing process of crystalline solar cells.

Under this union, products that will be available in 2009 will be cheaper for customers, due to the lower cost of ownership.  In addition to this, textures of solar cells will be improved so that they become more efficient.  Olaf Rogge, Manager of Technology of Strategy for BASF SE, the world’s leading chemical company, sees this partnership as mutually beneficial.
