BP Solar has signed a deal for with Xantrex Technology to supply residential grid tie (GT) solar power inverters to BP for use in its complete solar package solutions targeted to an extensive network of dealers throughout North America.

Xantrex GT solar inverters, which were selected over competing products after extensive research and evaluations, will be featured as part of BP Solar's Home Solutions PV rooftop systems, which are installed by the cell and module manufacturer's network of highly trained certified installers, according to the companies.

"We are confident that Xantrex inverters will match the high standards of our solar solutions," said Bill Poulin, BP Solar's director of products and services. "This strategic supply agreement is the result of Xantrex’s proven product quality and dedication to long-term product improvements."

"BP Solar’s commitment to use Xantrex GT inverters in its complete residential packages increases our influence in the solar market," said Ted Campbell, president/CEO of Xantrex, which was acquired by Schneider Electric last year. "We are optimistic that this alliance could also grow to include our off-grid and commercial inverters."

Xantrex's GT series of five single-phase residential inverters range from 2.8 to 5 KW in maximum AC power output capability, offer up to 96% efficiency, and can be installed individually or in multiple-unit configurations.

The deal with BP follows Xantrex's recent entry into the utility-scale Italian market and the deployment of several large PV installations, either being built or completed, which use Xantrex inverters, including the 2-MW array at Denver International Airport and 1.1-MW system at a Valley Center Water District site in California.
