centrotherm photovoltaics has posted preliminary financial results for 2009, highlighting strong revenue growth for the past three years and forecasted continued growth in 2010. The multi-market equipment and turnkey supplier posted revenue of €509.1 million in 2009, an increase of 35.9% compared to revenue of €374.7 million in 2008.

Based on revenue guidance from other leading PV equipment suppliers, centrotherm photovoltaics would seem to have become the second largest supplier next to Applied Materials in 2009, up from fifth position, based on VLSI Research’s Top 10 rankings for 2008.

Strong sales to Asia led the growth in sales in 2009. The company said that its order book amounted to €790 million as of the year-end and expects revenue of between €550 and €580 million in 2010.

centrotherm photovoltaics reported that its order book amounted to €790 million as of the year-end and would result in manufacturing capacity being fully utilized through much of 2010.

The company noted that new orders received for single equipment items in the Solar Cell & Wafer area, equalled €70 million out of total fourth-quarter orders of €117 million. Further orders with a volume of around €63 million were received during the first weeks of the new business year.

"With our technology and equipment, we support the highly efficient production of solar silicon, crystalline solar cells and thin film modules, and we do so on the basis of competitive costs," commented Oliver M. Albrecht, CFO of centrotherm photovoltaics AG. "This has allowed us to establish a strong market position, particularly in Asia."
