China Sunergy has signed a one-year agreement to supply multicrystalline solar cells to privately owned Indian module manufacturer Ajit Solar. The deal calls for the PV manufacturer to deliver 12 MW of cells to Ajit next year.

The Nanjing-based company said it expects to deliver 5 MW of cells to the Jaipur-based firm (which is privately owned by the Gehlot Group) in the first half of the year, and the remaining 7 MW in the latter half.

“Our partnership with Ajit Solar marks a significant step for China Sunergy as we venture into the growing Indian solar market,” commented Allen Wang, China Sunergy’s CEO. “Despite the challenging market conditions, we continue to receive orders for our solar cells. We look forward to working closely with Ajit Solar and to further penetrating the Asian markets.”

The Ajit deal news comes on the heels of China Sunergy’s recent announcement of a supply contract with Solarwatt, which stipulates that the Chinese company provide 22 MW of monocrystalline cells to the German firm next year.
