china_sunergy_solarwattChina Sunergy will supply 22 MW of solar photovoltaic cells to German module manufacturer Solarwatt under the terms of a deal signed by the two companies. Sunergy will provide the cells consistently over the course of 2009.

The Chinese company says that it will start shipping high-efficiency monocrystalline solar cells at fixed prices to the German firm in January, and continue shipments at a consistent level throughout the year until the terms of the contract have been met.

"I am pleased to have signed this agreement with Solarwatt, a leading firm within one of the most dynamic solar markets in the world," said Ruennsheng Allen Wang, director/CEO of China Sunergy. "Despite the recent uncertain sales environment, we have been successful in securing important sales agreements with leading companies in key markets, and we remain well-positioned to benefit as further clarity returns to the market."

In its recent third-quarter financial report, Sunergy said it produced 35.7 MW of cells at its factories during the period and shipped 34.1 MW, of which 34% were high-efficiency cells.

It also cited about 4 MW of order cancellations toward the end of the quarter and reduced its production outlook for the fourth quarter to the 15-20-MW range. This adjustment, the company said, will bring its annual production totals to between 107 MW and 112 MW, of which about 44 MW will consist of high-efficiency products.

The company also said its four new selective-emitter high-efficiency PV cell production lines should be operational by January, which will bring its total number of SE lines to five.
