26 August 2008 | By Mark Osborne | News > Fab and Facilities

FlabegFLABEG Holding GmbH has held a ground-breaking ceremony at the Clinton Commerce Park near Pittsburgh International Airport, Pennsylvania for the construction of a 209,000-square-foot manufacturing facility to produce parabolic mirrors for large scale thermal solar energy plants. The new facility will have a capacity of up to 1 million parabolic curved mirrors annually and will be used to meet global demand, the company said.

The State of Pennsylvania awarded FLABEG a $9 million grant as part of the project’s $30 million cost. The company expects 300 jobs to be created over time. First deliveries are scheduled for November 2009 with the company stating that it already had orders for 700,000 mirrors.
