Gartner expects thin film solar module market to more than double in 2009

Market research firm, Gartner has retained a positive view of the photovoltaics industry in 2009, despite the global economic recession, over capacity of PV modules and constraints on project finance due to the credit crisis for large utility scale installations.
According to Gartner the thin film module market, most hit by the lack of project finance in major markets such as Germany and the U.S. is expected to grow from 800MW in equivalent sales in 2008, to 1.7GW in 2009, an increase of approximately 113%.
