NV Energy opens RFO on the sale of renewable energy credits

30 July 2010 | By Syanne Olson | News > Power Generation

NV Energy is in the process of requesting proposals for the sale of renewable energy credits and all other renewable energy benefits. The Request for Offers (RFO) is sought for credits from qualified renewable energy generators, but does not look for the associated renewable energy from generation sources. Proposals will be accepted for contractual time lengths of five to 25 years.

Credit proposal from energy forms such as solar, geothermal, biomass, wind and other resources eligible for portfolio energy credits under the Nevada Renewable Portfolio Standards will be considered and will require certification from the Public Utilities Commission of Nevada through the Nevada Tracks Renewable Energy Credits program.

Renewable resources will only be considered eligible if they are in operation or have a commercial operation date no later than July 1, 2013. The minimum bid size is 450kW, but multiple sites of no less than 150kW at each location will be considered. Proposals are due by 5pm on September 22, 2010.
