Completing the project three months ahead of schedule, juwi solar has finished a 12.6MW (DC) photovoltaic power plant in Wyandot County, OH, the largest solar-energy generation facility in operation in the state, according to the company. juwi developed the project and performed all turnkey engineering, procurement, and construction services.
The project, which features 159,200 ground-mounted First Solar CdTe thin-film modules deployed on 77 acres, began generating renewable solar power on a commercial basis May 26 for Columbus Southern Power and Ohio Power Co. (both operating companies of American Electric Power). Construction began at the site near Upper Sandusky in October 2009.
AEP (the recipient of all renewable-energy credits for the project) will buy all of the system’s output from PSEG's Solar Source subsidiary, the project’s owner, through a 20-year power purchase agreement.
PSEG acquired the ownership rights to the project from juwi in September 2009; juwi will operate, monitor, and maintain the installation during its initial years of operation.
