Kyocera will supply 3MW of solar modules to the Omuta solar power plant in Japan, designed by Kyushu Electric Power and constructed by Nishinippon Plant Engineering and Construction (NPC).
The plant is scheduled to go online in November 2010. Once complete it will be one of the largest sites on the southern island of Kyushu. The installation will cover approximately 80,000 m² and will provide 3,200MWh of electricity.
Power companies across Japan have planned to build 30 large-scale solar power plants with a total of 140MW of power output by 2020.
