Commercial operation of the 1.8MW (DC) Belle Mead solar project in New Jersey has begun. System owner-operator enXco said that the photovoltaic installation, located on the grounds of Carrier Clinic in the town of Belle Mead, will supply 50% of the health-care facility's electrical needs under the terms of a 25-year power purchase agreement.
The ground-mount fixed-tilt solar array, equipped with First Solar CdTe thin-film modules, is constructed on nearly 14 acres. The fifth solar project developed in New Jersey in 2009 by enXco, it is the largest ground-mount project to date owned and operated by the EDF Energies Nouvelles company and is also said to be the biggest solar array on a health-care system campus in the state.
The project was codeveloped by Clean Energy Holdings in association with Trinity Solar. Financial terms of the deal were not disclosed.
