Samsung touts success of solar cell pilot line

According to the Korean Herald, Samsung Electronics has successfully opened its crystalline silicon solar cell pilot line in Giheung, South Korea with conversion efficiencies at the high-end of the current cell producing leaders. An unidentified spokesperson for the electronics giant told the newspaper that the cell conversion rates were between 15 and 20%.
Although details remain thin on the ground, Samsung was said to be mulling over when to begin volume production, while reiterating plans to be a solar cell market leader by the end of 2015.
