Solar Power Inc. to supply megawatts of PV modules to Aussie solar developer BBS

18 June 2009 | By Tom Cheyney | News > PV Modules

solar_power_inc_200moduleSolar Power Inc. has signed an exclusive deal to sell its crystalline-silicon solar PV modules to Australian solar developer, Beyond Building Systems. The two-year supply agreement, which calls for a minimum purchase of 5.7 MW of modules, provides BBS with exclusive access to SPI's 170-220-W panels for use throughout Australia, according to SPI.

The BBS agreement marks SPI's initial foray into the Australian PV market and represents another step in the company's international expansion efforts.

Bradley Ferrell, president of SPI’s commercial sales division, said that the company's "relationship supports the significant growth objectives BBS has in order to meet the installation demands of Australia’s national Solar Neighborhoods program."

Shipments of the first modules, which are manufactured in SPI's Chinese factory, will begin in June. Financial terms of the deal were not disclosed.

Earlier this week SPI announced a 2-MW module and mounting system supply deal with German solar installer, Bayer and Raach.
