With previously announced plans to be operational in early 2010, stealthy solar-cell start-up SpectraWatt has selected Camstar’s ‘SolarSuite’ MES software configured for the solar industry on the Camstar Enterprise Platform. The cellmaker is readiying an initial 60-MW fab in the Hudson Valley Research Park.
“SpectraWatt is focusing on innovative solar cell technologies that will dramatically reduce the cost of solar energy generation in the future,” said Rick Haug, COO of SpectraWatt. “We needed a proven solution that is flexible enough to adapt quickly to our changing technologies and drive rapid quality improvements. Camstar’s long track record of customer success and their deep understanding of the solar industry were key aspects that set them apart in the market. They have been a great company to work with.”
“We were impressed with Camstar’s rapid implementation times, and the ease of use of their application,” said Bruce Reedy, MES/ERP Engineer for SpectraWatt. “The ease of integration with our other business and automation systems was also a key factor in our decision.”
SpectraWatt had also previously stated that additional manufacturing lines were being planned, and the site's manufacturing capacity was expected to reach 120MW within two years.
