XsunX has signed a two-year, multimillion-dollar supply contract for the sale of 15 MW of its ASI-120 tandem-junction amorphous-silicon thin-film photovoltaic solar modules to an unnamed full-service solar power company, which specializes in commercial and solar farm projects in the California and Hawaiian markets.

"This agreement represents approximately $37 million dollars in total contract value with an initial 5 MW valued at $13 million slated for delivery in calendar 2009, and the remaining 10 MW balance for delivery in calendar 2010," said Tom Djokovich, company CEO (pictured at left).

"The recent passage of an eight-year extension to the 30% Federal Investment Tax Credit is spurring renewed vigor in solar project demand," he added. "We are working to fill our projected production capacity over the next several years with additional purchase agreements."

Djokovich told PV-Tech during an interview at the recent Solar Power International event that XsunX's initial 25-MW manufacturing line near Portland, OR, should be turned on by April 2009, with the production ramp then proceeding at a rapid clip. Depending on the speed of the ramp, he said the company expects to produce between 6 and 12 MW of the 127.5-watt a-Si TFPV modules next year.

The CEO also noted that the company's targeted manufacturing costs are about $1.58 per watt for the initial line, with a roadmap to under $1.20 per watt. XsunX's plans call for the build-out of an additional 100 MW in capacity beginning in 2010, although the site of the next factory has not been selected.
