Yingli Green Energy signs fifth polysilicon contract with Wacker Chemie

Yingli Green Energy signs fifth polysilicon contract with Wacker ChemieWacker Chemie AG has signed a new 380MW equivalent polysilicon supply contract with Yingli Green Energy, making it the fifth long-term deal the two companies have secured since 2006. The new deal starts in 2010 and runs through the end of 2017.


“Our business cooperation with Wacker Chemie, established in 2003, has developed over the years on the basis of the two parties’ long-term views of each other and of the PV industry,” commented Liansheng Miao, Chairman and CEO of Yingli Green Energy. “As of today, we have secured seven mid- to long-term virgin polysilicon supply agreements with several leading global polysilicon suppliers for delivery of polysilicon in 2009 and beyond.”

Miao also said that Yingli has five polysilicon supply deals starting at the beginning of 2009 that will enable the company to produce more than 230MW of PV modules next year. The company has a total planned capacity of 600MW of module production for 2009.
