The Abu Dhabi Water and Electricity Authority (ADWEA) is tendering for developers to take part in a 350MW solar PV project located at Sweihan, Abu Dhabi.
Through a competitive process, ADWEA plans to select a developer or a consortium of developers to own up to 40% of a special purpose vehicle (SPV) and participate in the solar project. The remaining equity will be held by ADWEA.

The project will involve the development, financing, construction, operation and maintenance of the plant.
The plant will be located 120km East of Abu Dhabi near an existing high voltage substation to which it will be connected.
The SPV will enter into a long-term PPA with Abu Dhabi Water and Electric Company, a wholly-owned subsidiary of ADWEA.
The deadline for submitting expressions of interest is 13 January 2016.
In April this year, Abu Dhabi-based renewable energy company Masdar and the Masdar Institute of Science and Technology jointly launched a new R&D centre to support deployment of solar in the emirate.
