Indian conglomerate Adani Group is looking to develop a utility-scale PV installation in Australia’s Queensland province, The Times of India reports.

The news comes fresh off of delays in Adani’s development of a US$16.5 billion composite project — the Carmichael coal mine in Central Queensland.

Jayant Parimal, chief executive of Adani’s renewable energy business, told Times of India: "We have applied for a license (to set up a large solar project), but it would be too premature to comment on anything more.”

Parimal is currently in Australia as part of a delegation organized by the Confederation of Indian industry (CII) for energy talks between the countries.

While Adani specialises in developing coal-powered installations, the company has also invested resources in renewable energy — planning utility-scale PV sites in Jharkhand, Andhra Pradesh and more.
