Air Products and China’s Best Solar sign turnkey gas supply contract

Air Products has signed a turnkey gas supply contract with China’s Best Solar Hi Tech Co., Ltd. to provide on-site gases, liquid bulk gases, specialty gases and gas equipment. China’s Best Solar is currently building a new thin-film PV facility in Wuzhong Economic Development Park in Suzhou, Jiangsu Province, China, which at full capacity will have an annual solar module manufacturing capacity of 330MW.

The contract between the two companies calls for the long-term supply of hydrogen, nitrogen and argon along with specialty gases such as silane, nitrogen trifluoride (NF3) and dopant gases. Air Products will also install and oversee the bulk gas and specialty gas supply systems.

"We are proud to have Best Solar's confidence in our supply capabilities for what will be one of the world's largest thin-film photovoltaic production facilities," said Corning Painter, Vice President and General Manager, Global Electronics, Air Products. "Our leadership position in the supply and delivery of the key materials for the PV market makes Air Products the safe and reliable choice for the growing PV industry."

This is Air Products’ largest investment in the thin-film PV industry to date.

    Photovoltaics International 16th Edition

This sixteenth edition of Photovoltaics International marks four years of production of the quarterly journal. As always, our focus is on efficiency and quality improvement and cost reduction in manufacturing. As 2012 rolls along, companies are falling by the wayside due to supply and demand issues, ASP declines and drastic governmental subsidy cuts. A clear picture of 2012 is offered through papers from the likes of TÜV Rheinland, Fraunhofer ISE, SEMI PV Group and EPIA, amongst others.
