Applied Seals recruits Wei Chen as new design engineer

Wei Chen will be joining Applied Seals North America at its Silicon Valley headquarters as a design engineer. He will focus on meeting the customer’s sealing needs, designing new sealing solutions and finding new market opportunities. Additionally, Chen will be working with Applied’s parent company Gmors in Taiwan, to advance the company’s Perfrez products in the North American semiconductor, PV, pharmaceutical and chemical markets.

“With Wei's hiring, we continue to bridge our global applications center in Silicon Valley with our manufacturing operations in Taiwan," said Dalia Vernikovsky, president and general manager of Applied Seals North America. "Increasing the engineering expertise at our California facility improves our ability to design and implement the optimal sealing solutions for our customers."

Previously, Chen worked for SMC Corporation of America in its high-vacuum valve design, testing and failure analysis for semiconductor and solar applications division. He is a certified fluid power pneumatic specialist, solid modeling specialist and geometric dimensioning and tolerancing technologist. He holds an MS degree in mechanical engineering from Iowa State University.

    Photovoltaics International 16th Edition

This sixteenth edition of Photovoltaics International marks four years of production of the quarterly journal. As always, our focus is on efficiency and quality improvement and cost reduction in manufacturing. As 2012 rolls along, companies are falling by the wayside due to supply and demand issues, ASP declines and drastic governmental subsidy cuts.
