A 9.8MW PV system at Campbell Soup’s production facility in Napoleon, Ohio, has been inaugurated, the company has announced. Representatives of RNB Renewable Energy, Enfinity America, FirstEnergy Solutions and SunPower were present at the event to celebrate the completion.
RNB Renewable Energy collaborated with Campbell on the development of the system, which was commissioned in December 2011, while Enfinity and RNB established an EPC contract with SunPower. SunPower installed the system, using its own SunPower Oasis system, as well a SunPower tracker system. Enfinity will provide operation and maintenance of the system and Campbell will purchase the energy under a power purchase agreement (PPA). FirstEnergy Solutions was responsible for the contracting of all necessary renewable energy credits as well as environmental benefits.
Enfinity’s CEO Rafael Dobrzynski said: "Large-scale distributed generation installations like this will be an important part of the way forward for Enfinity and indeed the solar industry as a whole. More and more commercial and industrial companies are seeing that on-site solar energy is a viable business proposition and a brand-builder, as it shows a commitment to sustainable energy. Importantly, our access to rapidly deployable capital means we can accelerate the pace of development without relying on the federal cash grant."
