China State Grid records massive increase in PV generating capacity

The PV power generation installation capacity connected to the China State Grid was up 415 percent by the end of September compared to the same period last year, the State Electricity Regulatory Commission (SERC) said yesterday.

Speaking at a press conference, SERC spokesperson Tan Rongyao, said the PV power generation capacity connected to the China State Grid, China's largest power grid operator, stood at 2.71 million kW at the end of September, about 2.18 million higher than the same period last year.

The China State Grid purchased 2.48 billion kWH of PV power in the January to September period, up 537% year on year.
