Having previously supplied Sunergic S.A. with 1.1MW worth of PV modules at the beginning of this year, China Sunergy has chosen the Swiss company to test market reactions on their Quaser modules.

Industriel de Geneve received its first shipment of 0.30MW of the modules this month. The Quasar modules are China Sunergy's most advanced high efficiency solar products and they are now undergoing TUV Rheinland and UL safety and quality product certifications. The modules are being launched on a trial basis exclusively to long-term customers.

"We are pleased to see the Quasar module advancing into commercial production and sales and with good value for the price, this sale demonstrates that Quasar products have huge potential to become a key profit driver for CSUN in the future. It's great to be working with one of our key existing customers to introduce this new leading edge product," said Stephen Cai, CEO of China Sunergy.

Nico Lugt, Sunergic's CEO said, "Clearly, it's in the best interest of solar developers to buy modules that generate more electricity in the same amount of space, especially in Switzerland, because surface is rather limited and manpower for installation is expensive."

  • Photovoltaics International 19th Edition

For manufacturers who had their heads in the bunker during 2012, fighting falling ASPs and eroding margins, the nineteenth edition brings you details of what lies in store for this coming year. Wright Williams & Kelly return in this issue with their popular analysis of payback on technology buys; crucially they analyze n-type wafers, Al2O3 passivation and copper metallization. SERIS shows us how to achieve 18.7% efficiencies using low-cost etching techniques on diffused wafers. We also have two important technology roundups: CIGS from Helmholtz Berlin, and PV module encapsulation techniques from Fraunhofer ISE.

  • Manufacturing The Solar Future: The 2013 Production Annual

In the ever-changing global solar markets, cost reduction and measures to increase cell efficiencies are the key tools available to PV manufacturers to create new opportunities and drive your business to the next level. Manufacturing the Solar Future 2013 is the third in the Photovoltaics International PV Production Annual series, delivering the next instalment of in-depth technical manufacturing information on PV production processes designed to help you gain the competitive edge.
