PV developer and engineering, procurement and construction firm, Conergy, has won a contract to build 41MW of solar in the Philippines as the country continues to progress with its PV roll-out.
The latest deal follows announcements of an unsibsidised 6.25MW plant and a 300MW rooftop portfolio for SunEdison in the southeast Asian country.

Conergy will provide EPC services for San Carlos Solar Energy (SaCaSol), a joint venture between European investment firm ThomasLloyd and Bronzeoak Philippines.
“We are very encouraged by the increasing recognition of the relevance of solar power in the Philippines as more developers and project sponsors ramp up their investments in utility-scale solar to meet the growing power demand in the country,” said Alexander Lenz, president of Conergy Asia & Middle East.
“These two additional projects with SaCaSol, which triple their solar energy capacity, not only underscore solar’s growing acceptance and strong momentum in the country but also demonstrate the improving economics of solar in the Philippines,” added Lenz.
The two plants will be built on the island of Negros with connection scheduled for June 2015. They will receive the government’s feed-in tariff (FiT) of US$0.21/kWh. Conergy will continue on in an operations and maintenance capacity alongside a local firm.
High electricity prices and a reliance on diesel in off-grid locations is driving demand for solar.
