Danfoss has announced plans to invest DKK1.5 billion (US$100 million) over a period of three years in its facility in Chennai, India. The company wants to invest the money to construct a new research and development facility as well as increase human resources at its production site in Chennai. The investment will make India Danfoss’ largest research and development centre.

The Denmark-based company is expected to sign an agreement with the Indian government over the construction of the 50ac site in Oragadam near Chennai, which is estimated to be completed by 2014. At present, 200 people are employed at the Chennai location but Danfoss hopes to increase the workforce to up to 2,000.
