ASM AE will include the DEK Solar product offerings as well as ASMPT’s PV wafer inspection and module assembly products. The new entity will continue in the PV sector but will also service fuel cell and next-generation battery markets.

At SNEC ASM AE is showcasing upgrades to its Eclipse metallisation tool that includes a new Voice Coil Motor (VCM) technology, designed to improve wafer throughput at over 75,000 wafers per day.

The new division will also showcase its laser system ‘SolarBlade’ for the mass production of half-cells as well as its SolarWIS wafer inspection system.

DEK Solar was sold as part of a deal between the owner of DEK, Dover Corporation and ASM Pacific Technology (ASMPT), itself a part of Dutch-based semiconductor equipment supplier ASM International in December 2013.

Little has been heard of DEK Solar since the acquistion.
