Despatch hires AMAT veteran John Farrell as managing director of solar business group

Despatch Industries has hired John Farrell as managing director of the company's solar business group. He will be responsible for leading the PV capital equipment company's solar strategy, product and technology development, engineering, and global service.

He brings over 14 years of business management experience with Applied Materials to Despatch, incouding roles in Japan, Korea, Taiwan and China. Farrell held various positions in AMAT's semiconductor and solar business segments, including director of business management Asia for the etch product business group and most recently as director of business management for the thin film solar products group.

John holds a BS in electrical engineering and a BA from the Trinity College Dublin, The University of Dublin, Ireland.
