DuPont Photovoltaic Solutions is supporting US PV installer Astrum Solar on product specifications for modules that improve efficiency and system lifetimes, ultimately lowering costs and increasing investment returns.

DuPont said that it would be advising the installer on specifications for materials used in the fabrication of PV modules, notably its own such as ‘Tedlar’ polyvinyl fluoride film-based backsheets.

The company would also advocate to Astrum Solar the best practice specifications as well as promote data transparency on materials used in modules, backed up with access to a suite of analytical tools for the installer to use as part of its product selection criteria or longer-term due diligence.

“This agreement will further ease the transition to solar power by increasing the overall value for homeowners,” said Astrum Solar Vice-President of Policy and Business Development Josh Goldberg. “DuPont’s unsurpassed expertise regarding materials specifications will ensure our customers always benefit from the most efficient, cost-effective system possible.”

  • Photovoltaics International 19th Edition

For manufacturers who had their heads in the bunker during 2012, fighting falling ASPs and eroding margins, the nineteenth edition brings you details of what lies in store for this coming year. Wright Williams & Kelly return in this issue with their popular analysis of payback on technology buys; crucially they analyze n-type wafers, Al2O3 passivation and copper metallization. SERIS shows us how to achieve 18.7% efficiencies using low-cost etching techniques on diffused wafers. We also have two important technology roundups: CIGS from Helmholtz Berlin, and PV module encapsulation techniques from Fraunhofer ISE.
