EDF Energies Nouvelles beats solar capacity target for ‘09

EDF Energies Nouvelles has said that the Group now has 183.4 MW in gross capacity (129.8 MWp net) in service or under construction as of 30 September. The company had previously guided a new capacity target for 2009 of between 100MW and 150MW.

Main products developed so far this year are located in France, Italy, Canada, Spain and Greece. EDF Energies Nouvelles has a capacity target of 500MW for its FY2010.

In July, 2009, EDF Energies Nouvelles signed a partnership with First Solar to construct and operate a 100MW CdTe thin film plant with all production going to EDF for a period of 10 years. EDF did not update on when and where the plant would start construction but did reiterate in a statement covering quarterly results that it had signed a ‘strategic partnership agreement to build France’s largest solar panel manufacturing plant.’
