Enerparc builds and connects 32MW solar plant “in record time”

  • Built in a record six weeks, Enerparc utilizes over 140,000 solar modules to generate more than 30 million kWh of solar power every year.

German solar plant developer Enerparc along with the Association Delitzsch-Southwest have jointly inaugurated a 32MW PV plant located in Delitzsch, Germany, after it was built and connected in “record time”.

Earlier this year in May, the Enerparc group purchased more than 56 hectares of unused commercial space in the city of Delitzsch. After receiving the final building permits on May 21, over 140,000 solar modules were installed on this land in a record six weeks. The modules are able to produce more than 30 million kWh of solar power every year.

“150 container of modules had to be mounted to over 50 kilometers of mounting systems. This was achieved in this short time only thanks to an established team and in close collaboration with all partners involved. I especially thank our supporters in the region who have made the project possible,” added Olaf Koeppen, an architect at Enerparc.

“This photovoltaic power plant falls into a series of successful projects that make untapped commercial space usable again,” the Mayor of Delitzsch, Manfred Wilde, and deputy chairman of the Association Delitzsch-Southwest, Christine Lösch, said in unison. “Delitzsch has many sunny days and environmentally friendly solar farms are a sustainable investment for not only our industrial area. They contribute to the attractiveness of the whole region, which is particularly active in the field of energy efficiency and renewable energy.”

Enerparc also highlighted that much of the underused industrial areas, particularly in the eastern regions of Germany, are suitable for the construction of solar parks as they often provide ideal conditions for quick and smooth implementation. For example, many of the locations already have existing links to roads as well as well-proportioned building foundations. Large-scale solar installations on former industrial land, meanwhile, provide an added sustainable value.

The project, which cost in the region of €50 million ($65 million), was developed by the Enerparc team Leipzig and financed and implemented by the Enerparc group. The company will also be responsible for operating the plant.

In the past two years, Enerparc has connected more than 700MW to the grid in Europe and holds over 250MW of PV capacity in its own portfolio.
