Environmental appreciation bestowed on juwi group

The 2008 Climate Protection Award has been presented to the Wörrstadt-based juwi group for its commitment to environmental awareness and protection in its day-to-day operations. The company, which is globally active in the wind, solar and bioenergy development industry, was specially commended for its recently opened new office complex, which includes highly advanced climate protection and energy efficiency materials in its design.

The award, presented by German environment organization Deutsche Umwelthilfe e.V., consists of a cash prize of €10,000 and was first presented in 2007. juwi was selected this year for its dedication to the development of renewable energy power stations and respect for environmental issues, and also for its approach to the construction of the new office complex, which was designed to produce more energy than it consumes over the course of the year.

“By designing and building the office complex in Wörrstadt, juwi is pursuing a wholly integrated approach to climate protection, which bears huge significance not only for the company’s own credibility but also for the new boom sector as a whole,” said DUH Secretary-General Rainer Baake. “We need companies like juwi that combine their economic success with their ecological roots.”
