Spanish energy, procurement and construction company (EPC) and tracker supplier Energia Ercam has formed a joint venture (JV) with South Korean company OCI Enterprises to form Ercam Trackers LLC.

OCI subsidiary, OCI Energy, will be a majority shareholder within Ercam Trackers.

Ercam Trackers has announced it will supply dual axis trackers to municipally-owned electricity utility CPS Energy and OCI’s 400MW project in San Antonio, Texas. Over the course of four years, the venture will also supply trackers to various various other solar projects across the US, although locations are yet to be specified. This project is expected to drive US$700 million into the Texan economy.

One of the conditions of the JV is that Ercam will be required to transfer its US operations from San Francisco to San Antonio. The company would not comment on how many jobs could be lost during this process, but said instead that it would create 120 new jobs in San Antonio.
