Evergreen Solar expands European sales team

Evergreen Solar is aiming to expand its European reach with four new sales managers to service each of its key European regions: Germany, Italy, Spain and France. All the new sales managers will be charged with continuing to broaden the company’s presence in Europe while also maintaining current sales relationships in each region. The new managers will report directly to Thomas Hofmann, Evergreen’s director of sales for Europe.

Christian Benöhr (pictured) of Germany, Antonio Ruta from Italy, Pedro Sanz of Spain and Fabrice Bicego from France are the new sales managers for their regions and will take up their duties immediately. Benöhr takes over the sales activities that Hofmann left open when he was promoted to his current executive position this past March, while Ruta, Sanz and Bicego were chosen for the newly-created positions.

“With this expansion of the sales network, Evergreen Solar is able to provide professional and customer-oriented service for each of our key European regions,” said Peter Rusch, VP of sales for Europe, Africa and the Middle East. “Installers and distributors can count on local reliable partners, who have perfect knowledge of their particular region and can respond to all country-specific issues and demands.”

Benöhr comes to Evergreen from Spanish subsidiary of Sunenergy, while Ruta was the former technical director for Phoenix Solar and a consultant for different Italian PV companies. Sanz joins Evergreen from Applied Materials where he was solar sales manager for Spain, Portugal, Italy, Germany and Greece and Bicego was regional director for south France at Conergy and sales director at Airmat before his appointment with Evergreen.
