Sujoy Ghosh has been named as First Solar’s new India manager, charged with expanding the market for utility-scale CdTe technology and furthering the company’s business development in the country, according to a report in the Hindu Business Line.
Mr. Ghosh joins the company from GE Energy, where up until recently he served as regional general manager for the company’s power generation business. He will report to Jim Brown, First Solar’s EVP for global business development. India is said to have accounted for approximately 8% of the company’s net sales in 2011.
“In this new role, Ghosh will be responsible for advancing and executing First Solar’s business strategy to expand the market for utility-scale solar photovoltaic (PV) power plants and to deliver value to Indian solar power producers,” said a company spokesperson in a statement.
First Solar recently reported losses in its first-quarter 2012 revenue figures, as well as executive reshuffles in the form of the appointment of new CEO James Hughes and Raffi Garabedian as new CTO.
