The Canadian Solar Industries Association (CanSIA) has awarded First Solar’s Sarnia CdTe thin-film plant with its Solar PV Project of the Year award. The 80MW (AC) development, which became the world’s largest operating PV facility on its completion in October, received the award at CanSIA’s annual conference on December 7.

“We are pleased to receive this recognition for the Sarnia project,” said Frank De Rosa, First Solar senior vice president of project development for North America. “Together with Enbridge, we are leading the development of utility-scale solar energy in Canada.”

The awards also saw First Solar’s vice president of business development in Canada, Peter Carrie, honored for his individual contribution to the country’s solar industry with the Solar Leader of the Year award.
